My story occurred while vacationing in the Dominican Republic during the summer of 2008, on our way back from the airport at Santo Domingo to our home and final destination Miami, Florida. I was traveling with my husband, two brothers and my parents. American Airlines never fails to be a disaster in my view!
To begin with our flight was delayed for more than seven hours. When we finally got inside the airplane, we couldn’t take off due to weather conditions. Severe thunderstorms resulted in all passengers being kept inside the airplane for around two additional hours.
Finally the pilot announces that we will take off shortly and we do. Jesus Christ, what a take-off that was! There were horrible noises all over that airplane, and this is coming from a person who is a frequent traveler. For a moment we thought we were never going to make it to Miami. Passengers asked flight attendants about the nature of the noise but they never explained or clarified anything. The noise eventually subsided as we got closer to Miami, but everyone was holding to their seats.
When we got to Miami, the doors to the airplane would not open, literally, would not open. We had to go out through the emergency exits without really experiencing an emergency.
I always tell myself that I’m never flying American again, but somehow most of the time I end up booking them.

That's what happens when you fly from a 3rd world country to a 3rd world city, next time stay home.
You are very rude. They were vacationing!!! Would you want to be left home while all of your family went on vacation?
American Airlines is one of the countries oldest and largest airlines. Miami international not only faces frequent weather delays given its location, but it is also a huge hub for American. You book them because you can only afford or just love the cheap deals. If they make you so afraid why dont you save up a little money and fly out of an airport more north with a different airline? Oh wait, chances are those airlines people love to glorify don’t fly to your desired destinations… southwest ha!
Miami is hardly a "third world city"
