airport

Just last month my husband and I were headed out of town for a wedding. As we waited in line at airport security, a family in front of us were putting their belongings into the required screening bins, and they had so much stuff they used the last bin in the stack.

My wife and I were flying home from Vegas a few years ago. We got to our airport departure lounge with about an hour to spare. It was crowded, and we were seated near the end of our row of seats. Lots of luggage was strewn throughout our aisle. The restrooms were located at the opposite […]

I’ve definitely read worse horror flying stories than mine… and mine had some up moments… but, I’ll share anyway.

I just got back from a return flight home after a wonderful holiday on the Mediterranean island of Majorca. A typical holiday destination for us British tourists! This isn’t exactly a flight from hell story but I did experience two rather unusual toilet incidents that I thought I’d submit.

I fly too often for work. I must have flown close to 1,000,000 miles on airlines in Star Alliance which resulted in Star Alliance Gold status on both Asiana Airlines (Diamond Plus) and Singapore Airlines (PPS Club). In terms of sales revenue, these airlines must have captured at least $400,000 as most flights have been […]

I was scheduled to fly US Airways from NAS to BWI with a plane change in PHL. I arrived at the airport and waited, only to have the flight delayed for an hour. After a few grumbles from us sunburned travelers, we waited for another hour – not that bad. As soon as we got […]

I’m 17, it’s 1978, and flying back from England after having taken my grandfather home. The departing flight is delayed, and due to union rules or something, rather than flying into DC and then on to Detroit, the plane is rerouted to Detroit, and I have a 4 hour layover very late at night.

I checked my bag for a flight to Canada that I missed due to being delayed by TSA. I was rebooked for another flight later in the day, and boarded this flight. The cabin crew was very unfriendly and was insistent that they check my carry on bag (which was a delicate sewing machine and embroidery attachments). I did […]

About two years ago an opportunity came up for me to travel to India through a program with the university that I attended. I was a little nervous about such a long flight, and since I was flying coach I expected it to be a little rough. On the way to India I “lucked out” […]

I am an American expat now living with my family in Barcelona. We moved from Seattle to become “global citizens.” Now we’ve begun exploring Spain and Europe by air and it has been both a positive and horrible experience. We had been warned about Ryanair, cheap flights but absolute Nazi’s about rules, and trying to […]
