This May while seated in the aircraft waiting to take off from McCarran airport in Las Vegas to Honolulu, I noticed one of the mechanics kept coming in and out of the cockpit. After a while we took off. About 2 hours somewhere over the Pacific, the flight attendants were serving drinks and I heard one of them say to the other: “Five hours of flight with engine problems is not a cool thing.” I was like WTF! Anyway the flight was OK, but upon landing there were fire trucks and ambulances all lined up on the side. OK it was uneventful, but it sure did not make me feel safe flying after hearing the flight attendant say that, especially when flying over water.

You wouldn't hear anything from Air Canada F/A's about any kind of problem.
They would be in the back of the A/C reading People magazine doing there nails while complaining about all the pax's they have to deal with.
What airline was this?? Had a very traumatizing flight home from Honolulu once, but we love to go to Hawaii. So have been trying to choose airlines wisely.
I find BS with this story. Flight attenends don't talk to mechanics about maintenace issues, that discussion is held with the Captian. Second of all your not going to make an ocean crossing with a serious engine problem. Even if you lost an engine of take off you would have to go back to Las Vegas. I am sure the firetrucks in Honolulu had nothing to do with your fight.
You're really rude. It did happen and it was on a charter flight.

I'm planning to look around a while and make contact with interesting folks and discover several things.
I'm hoping this message didn't find itself in the wrong section. I'm sorry if it does.
