Seating Arrangements Go Awry

in Seat Stories

It was November 2009 and I was visiting my sister in Hawaii for Thanksgiving. I had booked tickets and seats (through Orbitz) for both of us and our kids to visit another island for a couple of days.

I was checking all 6 of us in online and discovered that the seats that I had selected were not what was assigned for our flight. Both my sister and I were separated from our kids. Now her kids are teenagers but mine were 6 and 11.

I called the airline and was told that I had to speak with someone at the airport about the seating issues. When we arrived at the airport the next day we asked several people who sent us from one service representative to the next. When help finally was found, the person put our party together but at the back of the plane next to the engines.

The upside was when we arrived at our destination we had a representative check out seating arrangements for our return flight, with similar results. She took the time to rearrange our seats so that we were all together for our trip back to Honolulu.

A minor annoyance making the extra calls and arrangements, but things all worked out. So I have to agree with Red…not truly hellish.

Inconvenient, yes, but not a flight from hell. Thanks for playing.

If that was a flight from hell, perhaps you should just stay home?

Flying between the islands is a very short flight …could of lived with it for 15 minutes or so….if necessary you sit with one child your sister or wife with the other…no big deal
