A few years ago, my husband and I decided to temporarily escape the bitter cold of western South Dakota in January for the warm, balmy beaches of Cancun. After our ten-day stay had come to an end, and we were required to return home, we dutifully did.

I should have known better. The morning started out all too smoothly: There was no traffic on the way to the airport, there was a rare parking spot nearby, and security checks were surprisingly quick. My flight to New York was scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and I felt confident. But as any experienced traveler knows, […]

Living in South Dakota, I totally understand that the weather can cause travel issues. I also completely get that when extreme weather happens, it is beyond anyone’s control. This is not a story complaining about a simple weather issue. My anger is about being lied to, and the airline condoning dishonesty with their staff.

My profession requires frequent air travel. Perhaps ironically, my most recent travel “experience” was specifically for the purpose of meeting with officials at the FAA (though on the topic of exo-atmospheric transportation between points on the globe, as opposed to now ubiquitous airline travel).

This was my first international flight. I was going from Seattle to Tokyo on Air Canada back in December of 2015. I had heard about Air Canada and how they are typically late all the time and how they lose luggage, but my travel partner and I decided to fly with them anyway.

I purchased a round trip ticket one month in advance to Seattle from New Orleans. The original purchase had the plane scheduled to arrive in Seattle on a late Thursday night. This was because I wanted to spend one day in Seattle prior to catching a separate flight from Seattle to Japan that was due […]

May 21, 2016. American Airlines flight 2568 from DFW to Charlotte was overbooked by one seat. They offered a $300 voucher to take a flight departing one hour later. I (and many others) would later deeply regret not taking that offer.

A few summers ago my family decided to go on a road trip through America starting in Denver. I was living in London at the time and the rest of my family were in Dubai. We therefore made arrangements to meet in Denver.

My wife and I recently flew SCE to PHL to SJU (and back) for a vacation in Puerto Rico. We made it there and back, but US Airways didn’t make it easy.

Here we go with the terrible travel trip. Thursday 5AM: Wake up to pack. 8AM: Arrive at airport. 10AM: Flight to Philly is delayed due to weather. One hour. (That’s fine, I can accept this.) 11AM: Flight is cancelled due to plane not being able to turn left. (Swear on my soul.)
