A few weeks ago I was flying to Seattle for work, out of Raleigh, NC. I had a connection in Dulles International Airport (IAD). It was the worst flying experience of my life.
My trip from Raleigh to IAD was delayed for an hour, and then when I got to IAD the **** started to hit the fan. I boarded the plane and we took off fine, but got diverted for reasons unknown to me. We landed in a tiny airport in the Northwest. It had one restaurant, and only a few gates. It was dreadful. It was the most passengers that airport has ever seen.
We finally take off again, on a new plane, but this time we land in Seattle. I’ve already had one delay and one diverted flight. That should be enough, but no.
On the way home I was delayed yet again. I got on the flight and we landed in IAD. As I get to the gate everything is uneventful. But when I got in line to board, suddenly the flight got canceled for reasons unknown to me. They rerouted me to Chicago, and then to Charlotte (I’d land in Charlotte, and fly again to Raleigh).
From there I went Chicago-Charlotte-Raleigh. Those flights were uneventful, but I spent more time in airports than I actually did on my business trip.

Poor Baby……
Happens every day…
Dude try flying from Nashville to San fransisco and being either on a plane or in a airport the entire day. Imagine being delayed in Dallas cuz of a storm, takin off 1 hour late, getting into San fransisco at 11 at night and having ur phone blown up by your car insurance company numerous family calls and calls from people from church. All because your son has fallen asleep at the wheel and tottaled the car. Then try to imagine having to talk to the guy over the business conference and having to tell them that u have to leave first thin the next day. Then spending the next day on regional jets to Chicago then home to Nashville.
Dude get your stuck up stuff and leave. U think u should have perfect flights and everything revolve around you. Delays happen no big deal, people in the world have bigger problems so try to help and fix them instead of posting bad stories.
Unfortunately that's a Flight From Normal.
I agree with Charles that this is normal. It is also hell — flying in the United States has become hellish under ordinary circumstances.
Good point. What would have been considered to be a hellish experience in the past is now what's expected.
Flying is so bad now, that every entry on here now is the norm. When will anyone raise the bar for a true flight from hell. I’ve been subjected to more hell riding a public bus than this flight.
And this is different from any other flight because….?
I was stuck in your connecting city of Charlotte for 5 hours… I can understand your pain.
