Airport Stories

I was supposed to fly on Hawaiian Airlines today, November 18th, 2013 in Oahu, Honolulu. We were in line to check in our bags. Normally I can carry two carry-ons. The airline agent said only one was allowed and to read the sign. I asked to speak to someone else; she kept telling me to […]

I was on my way home from Florida, going through security at FLL. Like at most airports, the area the line goes through right by the X-ray machines is very narrow. A woman decided to stop right there and put her shoes back on, blocking the rest of the line from getting through.

Just last month my husband and I were headed out of town for a wedding. As we waited in line at airport security, a family in front of us were putting their belongings into the required screening bins, and they had so much stuff they used the last bin in the stack.

My wife and I were flying home from Vegas a few years ago. We got to our airport departure lounge with about an hour to spare. It was crowded, and we were seated near the end of our row of seats. Lots of luggage was strewn throughout our aisle. The restrooms were located at the opposite […]

I’ve definitely read worse horror flying stories than mine… and mine had some up moments… but, I’ll share anyway.

I bought a round-trip ticket from Chicago to San Jose, California on American Airlines… but because of changes in my friend’s departure, I ended up buying another ticket to go out to San Jose on Southwest, figuring I’d just catch the American flight back (that I paid almost $500 for). I just got back from a return flight home after a wonderful holiday on the Mediterranean island of Majorca. A typical holiday destination for us British tourists! This isn’t exactly a flight from hell story but I did experience two rather unusual toilet incidents that I thought I’d submit.

In 2010 my mother and I were flying from Eugene, Oregon to Columbia, South Carolina. We were all forced to wait for two hours for an old United Express CRJ-200 that would take us to San Francisco. After waiting for two hours for “weather delays” we finally were rushed onto the cramped 50 seater. By […]

I fly too often for work. I must have flown close to 1,000,000 miles on airlines in Star Alliance which resulted in Star Alliance Gold status on both Asiana Airlines (Diamond Plus) and Singapore Airlines (PPS Club). In terms of sales revenue, these airlines must have captured at least $400,000 as most flights have been […]

During Thanksgiving weekend 2009 I was flying back to my home after a visit with family in Midland, Texas. Going through security, I removed my jewelry and shoes and put them in bins and then put my purse in another bin. I was wearing a velour jogging suit with a sports bra underneath. I was […]

Random Search

in Airport Stories

Last May, I traveled to Saint Louis to visit my daughter. I’m a very nervous flier and had not traveled by plane in almost 10 years. One reason I dread flying is that I am always selected for a random search. So, to avoid problems, I paid to check my bag and only took my […]
