Passengers Start Their Party Early

in Passenger Stories

I was flying from Fort Lauderdale to New Orleans July 4th weekend to visit my family. July 4th weekend is the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, so many of the passengers on my flight were heading to NOLA to enjoy the festival. I board the plane and take my seat and everything seems to be going smoothly… until these 2 gentlemen sitting behind me board and they have to-go cups filled with alcohol. They looked like cups that maybe they brought from home. Anyway, you could smell the alcohol a mile away. I just kind of laughed and thought, doesn’t this seem about right for a flight to the Big Easy. The next thing I know a FA walks over and tells them to give her the cups. To my surprise they tell her “No,” and then proceed to lie that they got those drinks at the airport bar and the bartender told them it was okay to bring them on the plane. They started bickering back and forth and the FA then called security and the gentlemen were escorted off the plane.

The guy sitting next to me told the FA her actions were a little harsh; she said that she really did not want to have to deal with that at 27,000 feet. Well then, to top it off the weather was turning nasty (not too surprising for July in South FL) and we had to wait for those unruly passenger’s bags to be removed from the belly of the plane. Thunderstorms began approaching and our flight ended up being delayed 2 hours while sitting on the tarmac. A BIG thanks to those passengers who couldn’t wait the 2 hour flight to get their party on!!

When passengers enter a plane, they are greeted by at least one FA and this FA should had immediately asked for those two cups or no entry.

Lax security by the TSA or just the standard BS story? You make the call.

Why must EVERY story be questioned as BS? Do you really care that much? Can't you just let the others have fun on this site. As it has been said by others before, this is not a government regulatory site. It really does not matter whether these stories are true.

Hi! I'm the writer of the story and it is totally true! My guess is that they got their drinks at the airport bar and poured them into their own cups. Anyone is allowed to bring a non-alcoholic drink on the plane as long as it is purchased at one of the food/bar establishments after you clear TSA. The FA who greets everyone when you enter the plane just probably didn't notice and they probably weren't waving around their cups either. So be it….it happened.

Pay no attention to the naysayers on the site Samantha. There is a certain segment of the "regulars" on here that take it upon themselves to try and poke holes in every last story. Maybe they see themselves as champions of accuracy in some weird sort of way, or maybe it makes them feel better about themselves. In any event, your story was a good one and also quite entertaining.

Um, "rerere" when is the last time you've flown?? i bring a bottled water on to almost every flight that i purchase after clearing TSA. hello, once you clear TSA doesn't mean you sit in a terminal with no food or drink being sold. in fact, i just flew back from denver 2 days ago and brought 2 bottled waters on board that i purchased @ a kiosk right next to my gate. also bought a bottled juice for my little one & my wife brought a dunkin donuts coffee on board. have you flown post 9/11 "rerere"?
