Exasperation Over Engine

in Delay/Cancellation Stories

We were flying to Orlando Sanford a few years ago on Monarch Airlines from Newcastle. The flight was supposed to depart at 8:30 in the morning. At about 8:00 we began to board. We sat on board the aircraft for 15 minutes when an announcement was made. The flight was delayed for several hours. We went back to the departure lounge and waited for a good 8 hours until finally we were told to board the aircraft. However, once again we had to go back to the departure lounge. This was repeated once again with a 6 hour wait. We were then told the new departure time for hour flight. We were to depart at 6 in the morning which came to a massive 22 hour delay.

It turned out that the aeroplane had an engine which did not match the plane, so every time they changed it they were putting another engine which did not match the aeroplane because they were looking for the same sort of engine. It was only when they looked at the other engine did they notice the fault. We had to wait after all the changes because the only other engine was in Glasgow and it had to be driven down by a miserably slow lorry.

changing the engine? dude this isn't a car or anything, they dont just change the engines they maintain the engines unless its going in for major (normally a majour routine) maintenance where they take it off its flying fleet and into the hanger……….so at that point they would have either had another plane for you or they would have organized another way of getting you there through different airlines, they wouldnt make you wait 22hours for something like that

this story is bs
