Passenger Blames Hippie Girl For Stinkiness

in Odor Stories

I went sailing one year in Key West during Race Week. I helped the owner deliver the boat back to Ft. Lauderdale when we were done. The sail from Key West back to the mainland was awful. The sea was so rough that we had to just piss ourselves as we sat on the edge of the boat. I also vomited (partially on myself) several times. To top it off, I had developed a few Staph sores from racing all week that smelled like rotten meat.

We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale so close to my flight time that I didn’t have time to shower or even change out of my rancid sailing gear before getting in the taxi to the airport. The awful smell (stale urine, vomit, stinky sores, and general ocean and B.O. smells) got me some nasty looks from the people at the security check (who weren’t even that close.)

By the time I got on the plane, I realized I couldn’t stand any more ill will from the people around me. I sat in the middle seat next to a college-looking girl wearing a bandanna whose eyes almost bugged out when the stench hit her. My embarrassment was only tempered by the fact that I couldn’t really smell myself at this point ; I could just tell how bad it was by other people’s faces.

A businessman-looking type filled the aisle seat and immediately realized how toxic the air was. He turned in my direction with a look on his face like someone had just stabbed him in the gut. Not wishing to bear any more embarrassment, I just leaned toward him and whispered, “she smells awful,” nodding toward the hippie girl to my right. The businessman just shook his head and leaned further out into the aisle, straining in vain to reach some clean air.

It was a long trip back to Los Angeles and I saw several people get up and try to move to another section of the plane, to no avail. Thankfully, the businessman went to the bathroom several times and (I presume) told others in line that the hippie girl on my right was to blame because I saw her getting plenty of nasty looks as people returned to their seats from the lavatory.

I felt bad for her and put some moist wipes and a clean change of clothes in my travel bag in case I’m ever in a similar situation.

so its ok to blaim others and put them into an awkward position because it would make you feel better? thats nice of you jackass

you went racing smelled like shit and didnt try to clean yourself off, and then dont accept the fact that you are the one who smells and pass it off as the girl next to you by stereotyping and calling her a hippie, congrats not only do you smell like rotten fish your not manly enough to accept the blaim and take responsibility for your own actions

Wow, we seldom here the culprits of FFH on here bragging about their a-holeness. Score one for the hippie movement. Of course the biz-man could tell it was you and not her, cause if you were in as rough of shape as you claim, you're going to look the part as well.

Dude, what the fuck!! You say you feel sorry for her but your the one who set it up for her to be hulmilated. Word of advice: Go Fuck Yourself Asshole!

I am in agreement with both David and Mindy.

You had Staph sores and you got on board a plane and shared your bacteria? I am amazed that you were allowed on board in the first place. What with piss, puke and Staph you shared a bucket load of bacteria with everyone in your wake.

I vote with Joe, What a nasty pig you are!

The staph sores were on my legs, they weren't visible, and even if they were and the security people had somehow correctly diagnosed me, it's not the type of condition you get thrown off a plane for.

Clare April 4, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Not only are you as asshole for blaming someone else for your horrendous BO, but you had staph sores too. I wonder how many people you infected while on the plane.

MJ April 4, 2010 at 6:05 pm

This whole story is just disgusting. Are you even ashamed of yourself?

Reply

david April 4, 2010 at 6:32 pm

MJ the answer to your question is, no he isnt………if he was he would have admitted that it was him, he wouldnf have passed the blaim especially to a girl he didn't know, and from an educated guess he is selfish so that anything negative about the individual will be someone elses problem and not his………so na he wont be ashamed, he will feel that well it is over and done with no harm done no problem

Reply

david April 4, 2010 at 7:28 pm

MJ he obviously isnt ashamed of himself, otherwise he would have had the courage to admit to it and apologize to both seatmates that it was him and that he shouldnt accuse the innocent

he is probably a very selfish person where he blaims everything on everyone but him and wont take any responsibility about anything and has no self respect

Oh yuck. What an incredible a-hole you are. I agree with the poster who said that if you were in that much bad shape you would look the part and people would know exactly where the stench was coming from. Moron.

I probably looked a little worse for the wear, but I was wearing a pair of dark sailing pants and a dark blue nylon jacket over my shirt. I probably had rings under my eyes and looked disheveled (like a lot of people who have been stuck in layovers, long flights, etc) but it's not like you could see the vomit stains or anything.

You should have locked yourself in the shithouse for the duration of the flight with all the rest of the turds.

Ever think of re-booking a later flight and getting a shower?

You are a piece of shit with hair, asshole.

David April 5, 2010 at 3:52 am

Mj to answer your question….no he doesn't feel ashamed because he would have atleast owned upto it in the end and apologized to the girl and his seatmate

he is probably selfish and won't take anything negative about himself, anything negative would be passed onto someone else so it's not his problem, just so he can feel good about himself

This has to be bull. The poster has a twisted sense of humor for sure. Maybe the boat'll capsize in shark infested waters next time in his little fantasy-land.

Evan April 6, 2010 at 1:10 pm

The story's true.

I made sure to leave out enough details to make sure that I couldn't be identified (name of boat, which year it occurred) but it's an honest story. I normally fly in perfect hygienic condition and am very well mannered, but these were extenuating circumstances. I smelled god-awful, I was tired, I didn't have a choice except skip the flight and get a hotel (not really a choice in this case), and I didn't want a lot of ill will from the people around me. Don't rage, just read and take some perspective.

you meen name of plane.

Evan April 6, 2010 at 3:12 pm

No, I mean the name of the boat. They publish the names of some of the crew members in the regatta results and elsewhere and as much as I enjoyed writing about this and getting it off my chest, I don't want to own this outside of the internet.

Seriously?

Seriously.

NONE of you would have taken the easy out if it was possible.?

From the story I don't see how you could possibly pass the stench off on someone else, but I find it hard to believe that NOBODY would take the easy way out if it was an option.

Say your car got a flat on the way to the airport and the spair was flat. To make the flight you had to hoof it over hill and dale and ended up sweaty and stinky, but remarkably free of stains. NOBODY would blame the hippy sitting in the same row.?

BS.

Thank you, DSD, for showing sympathy in the face of an angry mob. I can't really fault the people here who hate me now but I respect anyone who does some honest self-searching before posting on the internet.

You are an inconsiderate a-hole.

We live in a civilized society. Why don't you try respecting others?

You should have re-booked your flight…took a shower, and been respectful of others.

You will reap the harvest of the seed you sow…..someday this will bite you in the butt.
