The Screamer

in Passenger Stories

I was flying from JFK to Barcelona, Spain two summers ago. I was traveling with a group of about 30, and of course I was the only one who wasn’t seated near ANYONE from the group.

After taking off on the long flight across the ocean, the woman next to me finally says something to me:  “Don’t be alarmed, but sometimes when I fall asleep on the plane I start screaming in my sleep. Just don’t worry, it happens all of the time…”

After hearing this I got nervous because who wants to be flying high above the ocean and randomly have the woman next to you start screaming. Thankfully, after she passed out I asked the stewardess if I could move my seat. Even though I did not get to sit near anyone, I knew it was better than a long flight near the screamer.

I would give anything to get to sleep next to a screamer.. On the other hand I think you did the right thing to move. There would be nothing worse than to have a lady start screaming next to you and then have everyone look at you wondering what you did to her to make her start screaming.

See this could have been a perfect situation if looked at in the right context. You could have told her that you don't mind sitting next to her but your only habit is to punch people in the face while they scream.

One of Madachode's comments almost sounded coherent for a second… then I got to the second half of the last sentence. Some things never change, I suppose.
