Passenger Gets What He Asked For

in Passenger Stories

I was on a flight from Philly to the West Coast via Chicago. I was already in my seat in coach when a man (I won’t call him a gentleman) stormed down the aisle and said that I was in his seat, and that he had a ticket to prove it. Sure enough, he did have the same assigned seat as I did. He yelled for the FA and demanded that I be removed from “his” seat. The FA attendant said “Oh yes, I’m sorry. Mrs. H. you’ve been moved to a seat in first class.” The other passenger then demanded that he be moved to first class instead. The FA’s reply that I heard as I quickly walked up front was priceless: “Sir, you wanted that seat. Now you have it.”

Ah, sweet sweet justice, topped with irony.

Another variation on the urban legend. This story never happened.

That's absolutely priceless. And Lonnie, it happened to me too on a SF to Newark a few years back, which is the enttlement express from a RoadWarrior standpoint.

Happened to me too, but I was the second one onto the plane and was bumped up. Too bad it was only a short hop… : (

What did you do with your other half? Leave him with "Mr. Personality"?

Happen to me twice. No urban legend. When you are nice and find a nice FA good things will happen to you.

I did the same thing when I was working gates for AA. I got a call from the ticket counter warning me of a lady who was very upset that her pre-reserved seat got dumped for some reason. She showed up at the gate and DEMANDED that I seat her in the seat that she had pre-reserved. I looked at the agent working with me and asked if we had first class seats available (knowing full well that we did). The lady got this satisfied grin on her face thinking she would be upgraded. I told the other agent to move the person in this lady's seat and put them up front. Her grin disappeared and she said "you don't have to be rude about this". I just told her that I was just giving her what she demanded.
