Attempts Made To Kibosh Kid’s Activities

in Baby & Kid Stories

I was on a flight from London to Detroit. I was seated in the middle seat of a 3 seat row, between two classmates. The seat row to my right was inhabited by two children and what seemed to be their nanny.

After we took off, both of the little brats decided to run up and down the aisle. The nanny who was now lost in the bathroom (or someplace) came back and didn’t do anything to stop them from being loud and running around. The little boy, what was about 10, decided to balance himself across the aisle and swing on the armrest of his own seat and my friend’s. My friend, who tends to not deal with anything she doesn’t want to, decided to move his right hand off her armrest while he was swinging. He fell to the floor and cried. We laughed at him.

In what would seem to make a little shithead child stop, he chose to still be loud and move around. Then the angel came! A male FA came picked the child up and sat him in his seat with his hands behind his back and buckled his seatbelt around. It was awesome! British Airways kicks ass!

I agree with you that the nanny or whoever was "in charge" of these kids was way wrong to not control them. You, however are also wrong, even more so in my opinion. Your friend touched this child, causing him to fall, and then you two laughed at him when he cried?!?!?! Are you serious? What kind of moral degenerate are you? Do you kick puppies for giggles too? No one should have to put up with behavior like that exhibited by the kids, but you and your friend's behavior is more inexcusable because you should be old enough to know better. Shame on you! I can only hope there is a special place in hell waiting for disgusting, awful people such as yourself and your friend.

Sorry, I'm with Hugh on this one. The child was acting immature because he was 10 years old. What's the excuse for the post's author and his friend?

Are you serious? Yes, the kid was behaving badly. An attempt to get the guardian to intervene should have been the first move. Knocking the child to the ground and laughing at him should never have been an option. You are an asshole.

I am wondering whether your "outrage" is sincere, in which case you have mental problems, or whether it is merely an attempt at trolling. in which case you have mental problems, since that is a silly way to have fun.

I thought it was pretty funny! I laughed out loud picturing it! Not everybody likes little brats on planes for many hours!

Ooh, never ever touch someone else's child, even if they're being eaten by a lion at the zoo.

If you accidentally break the kid's arm in the tug-of-war rescue, the parents will sue your butt faster than a "flight from hell" story can be called BS. ๐Ÿ™‚

I sincerely dobut the FA handled the child as you so describe. While I agree that the child should have been required to behave better, perhaps a better approach would have been for you to call the FA first. As adults, YOUR behavior was immature and uncalled for. I mean really, causing a child to fall and then laughing at him??? Grow up!!

I call BS. Placing the child's hands behind his back would have done nothing. The kid would have just pulled them out from behind his back, unbuckled the seatbelt and been back at it. The PROPER way to restrain someone with a seatbelt is to bend them over into a crach landing position and then place the seat belt behind their neck, then under the arms. Sounds more like what the OP wanted to do.

If they had really done that to a 10 year old and had been seen, they most likely would have been met at the gate by someone with "New Jewlery" for them. And heaven help them if a parent of the child had seen them. I know that even if my Son was in the wrong, if that was my child and I had seen that, the plane would have been met by the FBI and EMS, at the nearest airport.

I might have felt sorry for your experience, but you seem like an asshole. If you wanted the kids to stop, asking the nanny (or mother, since you seem to have no idea the guardian's relationship to the kids) to control them might have been a good start. And your friend is a bitch. She basically injured a child on purpose. You're the adults – act like it.

Thanks, I will do the same, people forgot to keep the children on their seats. Teach children to behave

Most of these people will see it different when it is their darling little "brats". Then they will be angry at the child's treatment. Children will run wild if the adults around them let them. I think it would have been more appropriate to drop the nanny.

She didn't "injure" the little bastard enough – he went right back to it. And ten years old is a bit old for behaving like a toddler. Bravo, Poster's friend!
