Delayed, Detained & Stuck By A Chatty Cowboy

in Odds & Ends Stories

So I was in Denver visiting my boyfriend. My United flight was supposed to leave Denver for OKC at 7:30 p.m. The flight was delayed until 10:00 p.m. Okay, I could deal with that. When we finally boarded the plane we sat there for an hour; I guess they had to refuel. After we finally got in the air when we approached OKC we circled around due to bad weather and they kept telling us they were trying to decide whether to divert to Tulsa or to land in DFW. After circling around in OKC we finally landed in Tulsa.

Tulsa Airport at this point wasn’t open. They didn’t have anyone to drive the truck that carries the stairs so after sitting on that airplane for another 2 hours with ANGRY HOSTILE passengers we FINALLY went down the emergency blow up thingamajig. After we got in to the Tulsa airport we were told we were to stay put and that we weren’t allowed to go outside to smoke. People were beside themselves because of this. We weren’t allowed to go outside of our little area to get something to eat (even though nothing was open to get anything to eat). They completely dropped the ball and we all had to find our own way back to OKC from Tulsa.

Of course all our luggage was still on the plane. Finally at 8:30 a.m. we got our luggage back and we got a shuttle bus to take a few of us back to OKC. Of course I was seated next to a redneck cowboy who wanted to ramble on about his whole life talking right in my face and hitting me on the side of the head with his cowboy hat. It was really annoying and the longest ride home. Finally I found myself back in my car in OKC at 10:00 a.m. So HAPPY that nightmare was finally over. Whew!

I call BS on this story, no airline has ever blown the slides to let passengers off

Yep…. sorry but not true… no aircraft/ airlines deploy emergency shutes unless there is an emergency. APart from this fact, those things are not cheap and cannot be re-used….

If you wanted to make the cowboy shut up you should have asked him what his favorite scene was in Broke Back Mountain.
