U Suck Air

in Delay/Cancellation Stories

I was invited to my nephew’s wedding and had great anticipation of a lovely day. My flight was delayed, and they said they would re-direct me to Buffalo. I was flying out of Tampa on (as I like to call now) U Suck Air.

I was to meet my brother in Charlotte, N.C. and continue on to Buffalo. Well, long story short, I ended up in Philly and I have never flown before unaccompanied. I did not know about finding a terminal, I was completely on my own, a wonderful woman who worked for the janitorial services in Philly accompanied me to where I was to go (I was in tears).

I approached the gate and was told my flight was not arriving for an hour and to sit back or enjoy the building. Being a smoker I went outside and upon my re-entry had to go through security again. OK, I really want to be barefoot with all the germs that are on the floor from other people. Upon my arrival back to the gate I heard over the loud speaker that my flight was cancelled. Not delayed, cancelled. I was sent to another gate where the bitch from hell works and asked if I could fly standby as I was told to do. That’s when I heard the seats are reserved for people with tickets, all the while holding mine and wondering if I was going to make it to the wedding.

Now, I had to walk across a rain-filled tarmac and lift my arthritic legs up a foot. I fell back due to my carry on. After boarding there was a woman who was using my seat as a tray while she ate. She told me she’d be done in a minute, whereupon I pushed my way through as there were passengers waiting to be seated behind me. THEN IT WAS A PROPELLER PLANE AND I WAS SITTING BESIDE THEM.

At last I got to where I was supposed to be,12 hours later, and my brother had waited for me. I came out of the washroom there because my seatmate fell asleep (gas passed and all) and I dared not disturb her. And he was there, thank God.

The only thing left was for them to lose my luggage, and they did just that. I was in Toronto for 5 days wearing my sister’s clothes and I had $3,000 worth of clothes left in Philly.

The wedding was wonderful and my flight back with Jet Blue was a total treat. Go Jet Blue, U.S. Air. Well, now you know why I call it U Suck Air. I got my luggage back in Tampa, another hour’s drive there and back.

It sounds to me like you are just a moron and more of a problem than the airline

Of course there going to lose your luggage if you change your course every time. Be more prepared by going a day or more early. This way if the flight is cancelled, you can just come back the next day instead of trying to make connections.

Sounds like you're full of BS. No one in their right mind would believe that you would have $3,000 in clothing in your bag. If you did, that explains it. Just another rich idiot that never learned how things work in the real world and need a handler every second.

Losing luggage is prety much expected when there are there many flight changes. your luggage is stamped for one flight…unless you request it back it will get lost. I'm sorry you had a hard time but…truth is…the problems were yours…not the airlines.

"I have never flown before unaccompanied. I did not know about finding a terminal, I was completely on my own"

Do you mean you had to be self-sufficient, like an adult?

um….wow… this was a dream right? the one where you're totally unprepared for the test and your standing naked in front of the class?

i've had that one. it didn't involve me crying on the shoulder of a custodian though, or lifting my arthritic legs and falling back into a fragmented story that goes absolutely no where…

… i think your dream is telling you not to fly commercial. private is the choice for you.

I seriously thought that a 10-year-old girl was writing this story. The only giveaways were your claims of 'arthritic legs' as well as the fact that you were on your way to your nephew's wedding.

I have to say the whole thing about being unaccompanied makes you sound either a child or mentally incompetent. Airports suck I will give you that, but I think someone with a reasonable amount of intelligence and common sense would be able to figure out how this works. By the way calling it "U Suck Air" makes you seem to be about oh…. I don't know 6 years old.

Your story is ridiculous. I'm sorry your first flight as a big kid was scary and bumpy, but please recognize that this was a combination of bad luck and ignorance on your part. Stop bashing the airline, they did nothing wrong.

Oh no! Not a propellor plane! And you were sitting beside them? You poor dear. And you'd never flown unaccompanied before? Such a crisis. I don't know how you could have possibly survived. Did you think they were going to fly off and hit you? Was the noise scary? Or did it just hurt your arthritic legs to see such fast motion. Yeesh.

It's interesting that you don't have a problem smoking, but then you do have a problem with walking without any shoes on for 10 minutes. Hmmmm

If you can read, you can find a terminal (they're very simple- generally single alphabet letters accompanied by large arrows that point you in the direction of that terminal). Unless you've got juvenile arthritis and you're 10, in which case the airline should have given you an escort, you ought to be capable of following signs from terminal A to terminal C. Moreover, if your arthritis is that bad, you should've done the research and found a way to request a disabled motorized escort to carry your snowflake self to where you needed to go.

You had to ride a PROP PLANE? My god, how did you ever survive the horrifying experience?

ok, this person not only does not know how to use an airport (dosent know how to find a terminal LOL) but dosent know how to use the internet. this stupid story is filed under BABIES AND KIDS and it has nothing to do with said topic, unless this person is admitting they act like a damn child which is pretty apparent!

loser!

You're absolutely correct about the story being filed in the wrong category. It's been placed back into Luggage & Delays.

Alright, I agree with the author with jetblue being great, but, oh no! you had to fly in a small plane! Oh, the humanity.
