delay/cancellation

I didn’t want to find out when I flew from Denver to Philadelphia that all of the flights to New York got canceled for the night. Even though I stood in a long line for two hours, unable to charge my cell phone, I couldn’t get a hotel voucher because they ran out of them. Regardless […]

I got up at 3:30 am Thursday to fly to Montreal from Oklahoma, then rented a car and drove an hour north of there. I was really nervous about the drive as I knew all the signs would be in French. Turns out that was the easiest part of the trip.

(Disclaimer: this is not to blame the airline for bad weather, but to explain my story. I understand that the airlines have no control over weather.) I was travelling from Melbourne to Athens via Dubai last December. I hadn’t flown in quite a few years, and my return to the aviation world was less than impressive. From the start I could tell it was going to be fun. I was seated in the middle seat in the centre row (a.k.a prime […]

I arrive at the Milwaukee airport in late August, looking forward to a quick direct flight to Dallas for work. As I arrive, I get an update from the airline: flights delayed for an hour. Oh well, have a couple of beers on the company dime and still get to Dallas in time for dinner.

Here we go with the terrible travel trip. Thursday 5AM: Wake up to pack. 8AM: Arrive at airport. 10AM: Flight to Philly is delayed due to weather. One hour. (That’s fine, I can accept this.) 11AM: Flight is cancelled due to plane not being able to turn left. (Swear on my soul.)
