Flights From Hell flies you into the crazy skies with stories about the adventures and anxieties of airplane travel.

Commercial airline travel takes us far, far out of our comfort zone. We're herded into cylinders that zip hundreds of miles per hour at 30,000 feet, subjected to security screenings, confronted with delays and lost luggage, rushed to catch connecting flights, constrained to small seats, scrunched up with strangers, and surrounded by pathogens. Is it any wonder we end up becoming a bundle of raw nerves by journey's end?

BA Flight 217 Heathrow – DC August 4, 2015. I travel quite a bit both within Europe and transatlantic. The nightmare of an experience that I had on August 4th on British Airways (BA) is one that I will never forget!

Torturous Trip to Canada

August 9, 2015 Odds & Ends Stories

I got up at 3:30 am Thursday to fly to Montreal from Oklahoma, then rented a car and drove an hour north of there. I was really nervous about the drive as I knew all the signs would be in French. Turns out that was the easiest part of the trip.

Reserved Seating Signs Irk Traveler

August 3, 2015 Seat Stories

This is about the only time I ever flew Saudi Arabian Airlines which was in December 2013. Due to the holiday season, I had no option but to fly with them. Afterwards I decided never to fly with them in the future. The overall attitude of Saudia staff was bossy.

Shameful Customer Service

June 27, 2015 Airport Stories

I would strongly recommend against flying US Airways or American Airlines. My recent experience with them is the worst I have ever had with any airline. My story is as follows:

Terrible Turbulence

June 16, 2015 Weather Stories

(Disclaimer: this is not to blame the airline for bad weather, but to explain my story. I understand that the airlines have no control over weather.) Recently, I was flying home from vacation in Charleston, South Carolina. We were supposed to fly from Charleston to Chicago then Chicago home to Phoenix. However, this is not what […]

May 18, 2015 Illness/Medical Stories

At the age of 19, I was hit head-on after a drunk driver veered over the center line and into my lane. Fortunately, my injuries were much less severe than they could have been, but I did sustain a head injury and developed a seizure disorder as a result. After that, I avoided flying for […]

May 15, 2015 Odds & Ends Stories

I had booked my honeymoon travel tickets from Mumbai to Nice and back to Mumbai via London with Turkish Airlines. Let me start by saying that this has been the worst flight I have taken in my life. My honeymoon started as a flop because of Turkish Airlines. The staff was rude and arrogant.

I’ve traveled a lot ever since I was little, and until I was 20 years old I actually liked flying. One flight changed it all, unfortunately.

No Assistance from Flight Attendant

April 18, 2015 Luggage Stories

My experience wouldn’t really be considered a “Flight from Hell” — but it was an irritant. I was flying first class from Denver to Omaha and was carrying on my bag. I walked onto the plane and noticed a male flight attendant. I am a 60 year old female and I asked him if he […]

Snoopy Seatmate Caught on Video

March 22, 2015 Passenger Stories

I was recently on a flight and was trying to get in contact with someone back home for a ride from the airport. The man next to me was looking at my computer (I could feel his eyes!). Whenever I looked at him he’d look away really fast – I decided to film it as […]

Another Open Letter to Jeffery Smisek, United Airlines President and CEO. I am reaching out to you today to tell you my experience with United Airlines.
