Pissed Off FA Takes It Out On Passengers

in Attendant & Pilot Stories

I was flying out of MSP on UAL and it was right after they had cutbacks for United. The flight attendants were really pissed off and taking it out on the passengers, focusing on Premier members. It was boiling hot in the airport and I took off my sweater and put it in a small paper bag.

After refusing to preboard Premiers, the flight attendant at the front starts to critique everyone boarding. She told me that I had three carry on bags, so I just took my sweater out of the bag and put it back on (even though it was also hot on the plane) and handed her the empty bag. After everyone boarded she came looking for me and accused me of “throwing” the paper bag at her. First of all, I very politely handed it to her and thanked her, and second of all how do you throw an empty paper bag?

She told me I wasn’t going anywhere today and proceeded to reseat people at her whim. The pilot would not let her take me off but I was totally intimidated for the rest of the flight. She complained very loudly about people being laid off that she knew and about the airline management.

I wrote to United about this event and received only a form letter even though I gave them detailed information.

Earlier that month I tried to fly United Express. Passengers were going from gate to gate as no announcements were being made. Rather than helping anyone, gate attendants were leaving active gates open. At one point, one of them gave me the hand – as in talk to the hand. I remained polite and professional throughout.

After that second flight, I contacted American Airlines and they matched my UAL status. There was a long trail of customer disservice before these events and I just had it. I have had only minor issues with AA and am overall happy with their customer service.

No wonder United Airlines is Bankrupt — The employees did it to the company and themselves… they get what they deserve… in other words employees of United Airlines,
You asked for it, you got it, now bend over.
