Special Carts

in Food & Drink Stories

I was on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Orlando to London. There was bad turbulence due to weather, so they announced that the food and drink service would be delayed. After about an hour and a half, they announced that the drink service in economy would be cancelled because the drinks were falling off the cart. However, we could physically see the drinks being delivered in premium economy and above. Did they have special carts?

Sounds like something Air Canada F/A's would do

not because of the turbulence..but because they are lazy

No, the carts in first class are not made any different but if you notice, they don't use carts to serve drinks in first class. The flight attendants are not lazy, many people are hurt every year due to turbulance. Do you really need a drink bad enough to put peoples safety in jeapardy when it is turbulant????? PLEASE, get a clue! Those carts weigh over 200 pounds when they are fully stocked and they have loose hot coffee pots and hot tea and I for one, don't want this landing on me or my kids laps for a drink on a short flight.

Orlando to London is not a short flight. I'd be upset too if I was stuck on a plane for that many hours without anything to drink.

Well do you really want cold/frozen plane food that badly? The last few times I have flown on virgin the food came basically frozen hard

the airline with the best food is Singapore airlines

I'm pretty sure he/she was more concerned about the drinks.

Carts are not generally used in First Class. The FA's bring the food and drink directly from the galley to the seats. It's not that I've never seen them used, but when they can't be used, the galley is only a few steps away.

Fly JetBlue, they don't have meal service.

There's a big difference between domestic and international travel.

UM, I don't care how thirsty you are, if the flight is domestic or international or if you like the food served by airlines. This was about the flight being to bumpy to serve from the bar cart. I for one, don't want those loaded carts in the aisle next to me and my loved ones and I don't want to put the flight attendants in jeopardy just for a drink. Every year people are put in the hospital from turbulance. 1st class do not use carts and they are to use their best judgement if it is safe to even be up.

I personally think the FAs should of handed out bottles of water or cans of drink back and forth from the Galley. It is so dehydrating flying, let alone an international flight.

If the seatbelt sign is on, it is on for a reason…..safety. If they are up serving cans of drinks, they are putting themselves in danger as well as anyone they might fall on. Yes it is dehydrating but if it's not safe then you should just sit with your seatbelf fastened and deal with it.

Well if they were standing up in other sections, i think they could risk letting a closed bottle of water land on someone's lap.
