Its possible that it was run over by another aircraft as opposed to the OP's aircraft.

I do have one problem with this story though. For the bag to have been run over, the suitcase would have had to have been left behind on the tarmac; planes don't move while they are loading and unloading luggage. As a result, the bag would not have been on the flight with the owner and he couldn't have picked it up at baggage, as the OP alluded to. I'm pretty sure that if the bag didn't make the flight the OP would have noted that.

Thats why I don't understand why someone would actually pay a lot of money for a suitcase, or buy a blue or black bag. Personally I go to TJ's or Marshalls and look for the most garish bag that they have. Why buy a black bag, then wrap a piece of ribbon around the handle and hope that someone else with a black bag didn't choose the same color, when you can be assured no other adult has a Barbie Pink bag.

I was reading a story on one of the news sites about a $10K suitcase and I came to the same conclusion as the writer. You would have to be crazy to spent that much and then trust baggage handlers with it.

Which is why for another $1500 you can get a metal suitcase for your suitcase....
