A Strange Experience

in Passenger Stories

I was on a very long flight from Asia to the US (about 13 hours). I was in coach and traveling alone, so I knew I would probably end up sitting next to someone I didn’t know. I ended up being seated in the same row as an older Indian woman, but there was a seat between us. For her that seat seemed like a great place to put her bare stinky feet. So, quite normally she was not able to speak English. Apparently she must not have liked much of the food on her tray during meal time because anything she was not interested in curiously showed up on my tray… very strange experience…

Wow, what's with old Indian women taking off their shoes on flights? That's happened to me before except they sat almost cross-legged and put their bare feet on the tray tables. They didn't have to deal with the flight food tho, because they brought their own stinky food =(

Sounds like Penn & Teller's Parsley game. The object of the game is, when you go out to dinner with friends you try and get the parsley that came as a garnish on your dinner, onto the place of a friend without them noticing.

Not the greatest experience on a plane, but personally I would have just tried to sleep. NOTHING can compair to my stepson's shoes and I live with that stench on a daily basis.

Unfortunately.

Well… Indian food only smells "stinky" to non-Indians. Have to accept that Indian food, to Indians, just smells like "food"….

From the point of view of the old woman, of course, she was likely trying to be nice to you by putting food on your tray, and it actually seems kinda sweet.

Too bad about the feet though – but at least they weren't in your tray along with the food, or on your lap 😉

That happened to me once from Osaka to Detroit. A group of tourists from the Philippines were seated next to me and around me. When they saw me eat the sushi appetizer, 5 or 6 were instantly offered from next to me and across the aisle, a couple were popped on my tray. It was pretty funny. There's only so much sushi I can eat 😀

Same thing happened with me and the Indian with the stinky feet. I woke up on a flight from Vienna to Chicago the female passengers feet with toe rings and all had been placed on my arm rest while I slept. She must have put them there after I went to sleep and it was not a good smell to say the least to wake up to.
