Passenger Fills Multiple Seats

in Portly Stories

USAir, Fl to Boston, changed my seat to an aisle, very happy. Tap on my shoulder – the center person of three seats was there. Okay, got up to let her in. Should have known when the attendant gave her an extension for the seat belt!!!!! Should have known when the lady lifted up the arm rest!!!! This woman needed 3 seats but this did not happen. The other lady in our row, luckily tiny, sat facing the window, and I sat facing the aisle. The only plus for the fat lady in the middle was that her hair was beautiful and she had just had her nails done. Annoying as it was, why did the airline staff never say “Can I move you…you look uncomfortable?” Like an idiot I did not want to embarrass the woman, stupid me!!!!!!!!! We paid the same fare and she got half my seat!!

If there were other seats on the plane, and you didn't ask to move, I have no sympathy for you. Berating the overweight lady is not allowed if you're too stupid to move. Laying blame on the flight attendant for not holding your hand and saying "poor baby wanna new seat?" doesn't fly by me either. As for the arm-rest, it's your right to tell her it stays down – and if you don't… again… no sympathy here.

I have to agree with SAW on this one.

If there are open seats, wait until cruising altitude, get up and find a flight attendant and ask to be moved. Just because you're too lazy to get up and walk to the back of the plane and speak to an attendant in order to avoid embarrassing the woman, then I'm sorry, but you can't complain.

Moreover, as an addition to the prior posts, I would like to state that one exclamation point is enough, and often excessive.

If I were not as cognizant as I am, then I would suspect that you were a child of not more than ten.

Yeah, the exclamations points could get annoying. What's even more annoying is someone going through every story on here and making comments on everyone's grammar. If certain people were truly as “cognizant” as they claim they would know that very few people write perfect English on blog sites because it’s similar to a conversation where everyone has individual chat voices or styles. People frequently write the way they would talk or have quirks in their writing that they may not use if they were spell checking for an important document. Making rude comments on everyone’s less than perfect English grammar just makes certain people sound like some uptight old bitch of an English teacher that needs to take the stick out.
