Cease Carry-On Luggage

July 28, 2009

in Flying Hell Commentary

I wish we could eliminate carry on luggage all together! A coat and briefcase/computer/diaper bag/canvas carry all/large purse should be all that is allowed. I am tired of being hit in the head by the wheeling overnight carry-on sized bags as their owners stuff them in and yank them out of the overhead bins. I also think that this activity slows getting on and off the plane.

Are you f-ing crazy? Do you really think a mild inconvenience is enough of a reason to leave expensive and important items in your checked baggage to get stolen or lost?

Have you read ANY of the stories on this website?

Clearly NOT a frequent traveler. No… what needs to be done, is that overhead storage and underfoot storage needs to increase on planes so that it's NOT an issue to get your carry-ons stowed.

We also need to screen baggage handlers better, and put more security watching them so the theft rate goes down.

You'll pull my carry-on out of my cold dead hands – because the airlines can NOT manage the baggage they have now, much less, what would be managed if there weren't any carry-ons.

And if any of the web-admins are reading here… you've got to stop posting this kind of crap – maintain the integrity of the site PLEASE????

Of course, SAW; censorship is just what we need.

Wouldn't it be stupid if someone created a bunch of amendments that protect rights of the citizens to so what they desire?

Man, I'm glad we're not in America, because freedom is a drag.

Oh, wait. . . .

Atari: "Congress shall make no law…" is how that amendment starts. This is a private club. If you think every story that is submitted here is approved, you're delusional.

Don't be a fucktard. The constitution doesn't grant anyone any rights on privately run websites, so deal with it.

Atari… No, not censorship. Stories are "submitted" for publication. That means, someone can "decide" not to publish it if if doesn't meet the qualifications.

Don't overreact. A book company doesn't have to publish your used TP if they don't want to, and you've got no case claiming "free speech". This is no different.

It was what is known in the literary world as 'hyperbole'.

Obviously, one can run a site the way he wants.

I was making a point that your demand-disguised-as-a-request was rude and, I believe, uncalled for.

If the people running the website felt that the story was sufficient, then leave it alone.

One story that you disagree with is not going to diminish the 'integrity of the website'.

"I was making a point that your demand-disguised-as-a-request was rude and, I believe, uncalled for."

Well you failed miserably. You sound like just another random internet fanatic.

"If the people running the website felt that the story was sufficient, then leave it alone."

Or (and this may sound crazy) state your disagreement.

The Commentary category was created in order to allow people to post their opinions (as opposed to stories) about commercial airline travel, whether pro or con, similar to that of the editorial section of a newspaper.

After seeing so many of these, the “category” often slips by without notice – my bad.

But we did have an interesting dialog on free speech though

Granted.

And GottaLoveIt: I was obviously (to normal, intelligent people with common sense) saying that there was no need for rude, harsh castigation, going as far as saying that the story is a detriment to the reputation of the website.

You have no point to make, it would seem, but rather, you just want to win a random argument.

At $20 for the first piece of checked in luggage (Delta), forget it.
