Abuse Of Flight Attendant

in Passenger Stories

I was on my way back to KY from a wonderful trip to Alaska with my new boyfriend last year. Said attorney boyfriend was a NWA “Gold” member and we were flying in “first class” of a jet that didn’t actually have first class. The flight attendant requested everyone to remain in their seats since it was a full flight and if a passenger needed to retrieve something from the overhead bin, she would retrieve it. He was offended by this (didn’t she know who he was?!) and decided to make her retrieve and return his laptop several times. I was incredulous that a well-educated, successful, 50 year old man would act so spoiled, childish and vindictive. And the flight attendant knew what he was doing. Needless to say, we don’t date any more.

That must have been pretty embarrassing. You're better off without a jerk like that.

I’m pretty opinionated (as you can tell from my comments here) and I’d of been hard pressed not to tell him what a jerk he was being right there in front of everyone.. who am I kidding? I so would have told him and made him feel like a jerk.

It does underscore though, my feelings about NWA flight crews – who are, on the whole, a really patient, and calm bunch of people. Kudos to them for not hitting him over the head with his laptop in a bit of "turbulence" every time he asked for it

I fully agree with all the previous comments. This guy sounds like a real douche-bag. I hope the FA spit in his food, or dropped a "silent but deadly" in his face.

Hugh's grotesque suggestions were worse to consider than your beau's vindictiveness.

It is interesting that you hinted toward your dislike for the new boyfriend in the very beginning with such sardonic use of quotations above 'Gold' and 'first class'.

What I would like to know is this: If you were not in 'first class,' then what, exactly, did the gold membership afford you?
