Maybe We Need A Trains From Hell Site?

in Passenger Stories

This has to do with a train rather than an aircraft, but the problem encountered is a universal one.

My mother and I were traveling on the high-speed Inter City train from Glasgow, Scotland, to London. The train makes only one stop en route.

We had the misfortune to share a car with a soccer team (!). They were drinking, smoking (in a non-smoking car), and acting like complete asses.

The conductor could quiet them down only long enough for him to leave the car, then the young men flared up once more.

An hour and a half into the four-hour trip, the train unexpectedly slowed to a stop. There was not a station visible; just a crossing with the guard gates closed and bells and lights warning of the train’s presence.

The train was met by a police car, and two officers got aboard.

The conductor and the two officers entered our car and removed the entire soccer team (to loud applause, I might add). The team was unceremoniously dumped at the crossing, and the train resumed its trip to London!

There should be a way of doing this at altitude to unruly air passengers!

lol,

Smoking in public places is illegal in the UK, thus no-one is ever allowed to smoke on trains.

If you were on a train, why didn't you just move to another carriage?

They should have just dropped you off. Stop being so whiny and ruining a bloke's good time!

I can't believe that the folks who have responded so far seem to be blaming *you* for either not moving or being a whiner! Good grief!

The cops wouldn't have removed the entire team had there not been more complaints than yours…and serious complaints.

Heck, who in their right minds would want to spend four and a half hours with a bunch of drunken young men…unless you're one of them.

(Keep in mind, though, that most Americans don't understand what European soccer teams and their fans can be like. They're used to American soccer.)

Nemo, you're a dick. Why didn't THEY act like they had some sense and not smoke. I expect a soccer team to act wild and a rugby team to act even more so but I wouldn't want to tolerate anyone smoking where they shouldn't. You don't have to smoke to live but you do have to breathe to live.

jimbob really lives up to his name. Get a gallon of gas and move your home to higher ground. For you, that would be NORTH of the bayou.

No traveller should be subjected to 12 year olds in 30 year old bodies.

That was awesome. I am glad they were kicked off. Second hand smoke is like smelling someone's fart, and no thank you.
