Violent Vegetarian Hurls Seeds

in Passenger Stories

Well let me preface this with the fact I am a vegetarian. I know well ahead of time that most airlines have a problem accommodating us, so I always get something to eat before boarding.

On a flight from SFO to Denver, I sat next to a young woman who was also a vegetarian. She was eating a bag of seeds, so it was pretty easy to figure out. OK, the wool sweater, braids, and Birkenstocks were also a dead give away.

Anyhow, when the meal cart squeaked by, she asked if they had her vegetarian meal. Of course they did not, at which point this seemingly innocent hippy turned evil. She barked some insults, then proceeded to throw (THROW) her remaining bag of seeds across me (I was aisle, she was middle) and hit the attendant in the face with the bag. Seeds flew on countless passengers and the food on the cart. No one knew what to do next. The attendant silently wheeled to the back of the aircraft. A few moments later, another attendant asked her to take a walk to the back where I am assuming they had a come to Jesus talk, since when she returned she picked up all the seeds on the floor.

The best part? everyone clapped when she finally sat down after her cleanup.

This is great. I travel a lot an can relate to so many of these stories in every category. My 16 yr old son starting flying with me when he was a month old and he learned the "3 R's" very early.

Respect for yourself.

Respect or others.

Responsibility for your actions.

Sounds like Miss Veggietantrum got a lesson in that from the FA. Bravo!

There is a B-vitamin group that is only found naturally in meat that is responsible for maintaining neurological health and emotional stability.

Just a note.

I am always skeptical of these claims, since I know of people who eat nothing be vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and berries and are highly intelligent, active persons.
So apparently this B-vitamin either is not only found in meat, or it's not all that important.
Or some third option which I have not even considered.

I guess that explains her sudden loss of sanity.

This has to be one of the best stories I've read here. Nicely written, concise, and to the point.

Thumbs up!

The description of the seed-eater was priceless.

I'm Kosher, and we are promised a meal if we order it ahead of time. I know the airlines offer vegetarian food too. Why she didn't tell them that she was a "veggie" when she booked her flight is beyond me.

Kudo's to the flight crew, I'm happy to hear that the card carrying PETA freak got her come-uppance!

I always set my preference to vegetarian because I've had too much sketchy airplane meat dishes… And they rarely actually have it despite me requesting the meal at booking.

And since the wording is "her vegetarian meal" as opposed to asking if there was one — it sounds like the same thing happened to her.

no doubt

why do vegetarians get so nasty at non veggie I thought they were suppose to be peaceful and they call us barbarians

PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals. Seriously, if you don't want to eat meat, then that's fine with me. But don't get all upset because I like a nice steak now & then.

That was completely uncalled for.

I agree with Beck.

So what, 'jimbob,' is courtesy and politeness now a trait only found in homosexuals?

That's an insult to the world at large.

Jimbob, go back to your ballgame watching, drinking Coors, roaring like a primate after each home run and all this macho crap. Your chosen name fits you well….

I bet the talk went something like this: "Sweetie, we're gonna have the police meet you at the gate unless you pick every single seed up off that carpet!"
